Listen To The Sounds For The Sound Pictures - Part 1 - Alphabet Sounds
These are the sound story pictures in the order in which they are introduced in part one of the story. Click on the bar below each picture to hear the sound. Practice saying the sound for each picture.
Each sound story picture represents a letter sound. The story introduces the letters that are easiest to write first. Letters that are more difficult to write are taught later. To hear part one of the sound story read aloud, click here.
It is important to understand that the sound pictures are not the same as key words. The pictures represent the actual sound of an event. For example the clock ticks, and the sound is /t/, /t/, /t/. So the picture of the clock shows the /t/ sound, not the /c/ sound that begins the word clock. When the dog growls, it makes the /rrrr/ sound. So the picture of the dog shows the /r/ sound, not the d/dog sound and not the g/growl sound. (When you see letters between slash marks, like this /t/, you should pronounce the sound of the letter, not the letter name.)
Click on the black sound bar below the sound picture to hear the sound.

The sounds are downloadable. If you click on Download this sound (printed in green), you will download the sound for that picture.
