Level 4, Book 1, Sound ChartsUse these charts with Book 1 from any of the three sets of Level 4 books listed below. Each set teaches the same phonics patterns in the same sequence. All of the sets include the same illustrated, decodable practice stories. However, each set is printed in a different format.
Phonetic Words And Stories, Books 1-8 - These books have extra-large print. The words and pictures are placed on facing pages. The vowels are color-coded. Basic Phonics Patterns, Books 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-6, 7-8 - These books are printed in all black print. The word lists and sentences are illustrated. Know The Phonetic Code, Volumes 1-3 - These books provide a review for older students. The word lists are not illustrated. |
Before starting the level four books, read Part 1 of the sound story aloud to the students if they are not familiar with it. Part 2 of the sound story will be introduced one section at a time while students are working through Book 1.
The charts below provide a daily review of the phonics patterns that have been taught. Students practice saying the sounds for each letter or letter pattern, first from the charts, and then from flashcards. When saying the sounds on the charts, the picture cues will help students remember the correct sounds with confidence. When saying the sounds from flashcards, students will have to remember the sound without help from the sound pictures.
The books at Level 4 include the alphabet charts from Levels 1, 2, and 3. As you move from one book to the next at Level 4, the previous letter patterns and charts will be included along with any new letter patterns and charts.
