Sound Story Part 1 - The Alphabet, With Short Vowels Plus Long I
To hear part one of the sound story read aloud, click on the black sound bars. The sound story contains sounds represented by the English alphabet, including the consonant sounds, five short vowel sounds, and the long ī sound. Each sound that occurs in the story is represented by a sound picture. The capital and lower case letters beside each sound picture represent the same sound in words. The sound story is used to introduce the speech sounds and related letters of the alphabet to beginning readers. The letters that are easiest to write are introduced first, and the letters that are more difficult to write are introduced later. This makes it easier for students to master letter formation during handwriting instruction.
