Sound CardsUse these cards to review the sounds of the sound pictures, letters, and letter patterns. Students say the sound or sounds for each sound picture, letter, or letter pattern.
The cards are available in two types of print. Beginning students can work with a plain print, called non-serif, that looks similar to the letters that they write. Older students can work with a serif print, that has small extenders on the letter forms, similar to how the letters look in many printed books. It is helpful for students to be exposed to both types of letters, since they will see both types in the various books they are learning to read. |
Sound Picture Cards
Use at all levels when you are introducing the sound story.
These cards show the sound pictures from A Sound Story About Audrey And Brad. They are very useful when you are introducing the sound story. After reading several new sections of the story aloud, follow up by showing the new sound picture cards. Go through the cards one at a time. See if the students can give you the correct sound for each card. Model and have students repeat as needed. Then show the cards for all the pictures that have been introduced. Have students say the sound for each card. Next put the picture cards the students have learned in a pocket chart along with the letter cards that go with the pictures. Have students match each picture card with the letter that represents that sound.

Games
I have instructions for most of the learning games that I put together during the years 2014-2015. Click the Game Instructions button above to download the file.
I have not updated the games in this file so that they match the newest books that I've uploaded to this site, however the instructions will provide you with a general idea about how to play each game. The specific patterns taught in the games at each level will sometimes need to be changed because the order in which the patterns are taught has changed in some of the books.
